About us

The marketing cooperation 9 Cities in Lower Saxony has existed since 1984 and is one of the most successful tourism city cooperations in Germany. Current members are: Braunschweig, Celle, Einbeck, Göttingen, Goslar, Hameln, Hanover, Hildesheim and Wolfenbüttel as well as the Autostadt in Wolfsburg and the Hanover Airport. The most important goal of the activities of the marketing cooperation is to increase the level of awareness of the member cities and the number of guests and overnight stays by specifically addressing, advertising and acquiring travel agents and end consumers, especially in neighbouring European countries, but also within Germany.

It is an association of attractive urban tourism destinations whose tourism infrastructure and products are suitable for joint international marketing. History determines the townscape and the offers, cultural facilities and attractive events set accents, impressive facades and monuments represent a valuable cultural heritage. The individual characters and strengths of the cities complement each other in attracting guests and create synergies. The cities are located in the south-east of Lower Saxony and are thus easily accessible to each other. The quick accessibility from the A 7 and A 2 motorways is particularly important for joint marketing in Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Eastern Europe.

The marketing cooperation’s partner is the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, which appeals to the same target groups, especially in the foreign markets. A visit to the Autostadt forms an attractive complement to a trip to the historic cities and vice versa. By pooling resources, an international presence is achieved that would not be possible for the individual members without the cooperation. Hannover Airport is the gateway to the 9 cities in Lower Saxony.

In addition to the implementation of the marketing goals, the informal exchange on current developments and projects as well as the strengthening of city tourism in Lower Saxony is of considerable importance for the member cities.
