Lively shopping and cultural city

Since the city was founded by Henry the Lion, Braunschweig has been shaped over the centuries by the Guelphs and the Hanseatic League and is now an attractive shopping city and lively cultural center. Discover Braunschweig sustainably: Everything that makes a big city can be reached within a short distance: a charming city center with historic squares, varied stores, restaurants, sights and event highlights as well as the beautiful parkland along the River Oker, which flows around the city center. The Lion City is easily accessible by train thanks to the good connections to the German rail network. From the main train station, visitors can reach Braunschweig’s nearby city center in a short time by public transport, on their own bike or on foot.

The picture shows a market. Many people are shopping at the stalls. There is fruit, vegetables and other things. The stalls have colorful roofs. In the background you can see a church with two towers. The sky is blue with white clouds.

– A relaxing walk through the Riddagshausen nature reserve is not just a chance to observe plants and birds. A herd of fallow deer also awaits your visit in the forest enclosure. If you like, you can also take part in the ranger guided tour of the Haus Entenfang nature experience center and learn exciting details about the local flora and fauna.

– From the end of November to the end of December, the traditional Braunschweig Christmas market invites you to visit.
