Winter Magic in nine historic cities<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Urban flair, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, charming half-timbered towns, castles, parks and gardens in one of the most beautiful Christmas market regions in Germany. Braunschweig, Celle, Einbeck, G\u00f6ttingen, Goslar, Hameln, Hannover, Hildesheim and Wolfenb\u00fcttel, together with the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, offer very special highlights not only during Advent. The cities are ideally located for a pre-Christmas round trip.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially in winter, Lower Saxony’s cities reveal their special charm. The Christmas markets in the nine cities are rich in tradition. An insider tip for all those who like classic Christmas atmosphere, festive atmosphere and stylish offerings. The Christmas markets shine in front of enchanting historical backdrops. Christmas shopping in the festively decorated city centres becomes a very special experience. A lot of variety awaits visitors on a Christmas market tour: whether Christmas forest, Christmas fairy tale mile, historic Christmas market or Finnish Christmas market: each Christmas market has its own charm and very special highlights. Many atmospheric events round off the programme. And the Autostadt in Wolfsburg is also transformed into a winter wonderland in the run-up to Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitors can experience history at first hand on a round trip through the nine towns worth seeing. Short distances make for a pleasant journey. Medieval squares, UNESCO World Heritage sites, castles, parks and gardens provide a wonderful setting for the Christmas markets and pre-Christmas events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the traditional university city of G\u00f6ttingen<\/strong>, for example, artisans not only present glass art, woodcarvings and candles, but also let you look over their shoulders as they work. The cultural programme at the Christmas market changes daily.
In the Pied Piper town of Hameln<\/strong>, the fa\u00e7ade of the Wedding House becomes an Advent calendar, and on L\u00fctjenmarkt an eleven-metre-high pyramid creates a Christmas atmosphere. Visitors can blow their own glass ball in Hameln’s glassworks.
Unique in Germany is the Christmas forest in the UNESCO World Heritage city of Goslar<\/strong> am Harz. More than 40 fir trees with ten thousand illuminated lights give the Christmas market on the historic market square a very special atmosphere.
In Wolfenb\u00fcttel<\/strong>, the annual Christmas market takes place against the half-timbered backdrop of the town market. Life-size Christmas figures adorn the wintry old town. A novelty this year is a walk-in Christmas ball with seating areas as a Christmas lounge against the backdrop of the castle.
A popular meeting place at the Christmas market in the Lion City of Braunschweig<\/strong> are the rafts on the beautifully illuminated Castle moat. On and around the Castle square, around 150 artisans and market traders offer lovingly decorated stalls.
The Christmas market in the residential town of Celle<\/strong> is framed by Europe’s largest continuous ensemble of half-timbered houses. The glow of the Christmas lights conjures up a festive glow on the colourful facades.
A medieval and a Finnish Christmas village are part of the Christmas market in Hannover<\/strong>‘s old town. The Advent programme in the city is colourful. Two very special highlights are the Winter Variet\u00e9 and the Christmas Garden at Hannover Adventure Zoo.
The heart of Hildesheim<\/strong>‘s Christmas market beats on the historic market square. Here, around a large Christmas pyramid, are artistically crafted wooden huts. From the highest church tower in Lower Saxony, you can enjoy a fairytale view of the Mark.
In Einbeck, the traditional Einbeck<\/strong> Christmas Village opens its doors once again. Christmas lights illuminate Einbeck’s town centre and visitors can look forward to a wide range of handicrafts and regional specialities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tip: combine a trip through the historic towns with a visit to the Autostadt in Wolfsburg. From the end of November to the end of December, the Autostadt becomes a fairytale world of ice, snow and twinkling lights. A winter market with lovingly decorated stalls offers Christmas specialities and gift ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
