Historic, lively unique<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Charming old towns, UNESCO World Heritage sites, enchanting castles, parks and gardens. Braunschweig, Celle, Einbeck, G\u00f6ttingen, Goslar, Hameln, Hannover, Hildesheim and Wolfenb\u00fcttel, together with the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, offer attractive highlights for a city tour in Lower Saxony.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following in the footsteps of the dynasty of the Guelphs or the Hanseatic merchants, visitors can experience history at first hand on a trip through the nine cities worth seeing. Charming half-timbered buildings are waiting to be discovered. The lively city centres also offer urban flair and a variety of opportunities for shopping. You can relax in one of the many restaurants and caf\u00e9s on the historic squares or in the green oases of the towns. The Harz Mountains, the L\u00fcneburg Heath or the Weserbergland are wonderful excursion destinations and easily accessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Goslar<\/strong> can already look back on over 1100 years of city history. The UNESCO World Heritage town invites its visitors on a journey through time in the alleys of the old town. With the Harz mountains right on the doorstep, nature and hiking enthusiasts get their money’s worth. Hildesheim<\/strong> is famous for its unique cultural monuments. The cathedral and St. Michael’s Church are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Just a few metres from the impressive historic market square, it is worth taking a look from Lower Saxony’s highest church tower. The former Hanseatic town of Einbeck <\/strong>has an old town full of magnificently decorated half-timbered houses. Europe’s largest collection of classic cars is housed in the PS.SPEICHER. Einbeck is also famous for its beer, which has been brewed here since the Middle Ages. Magnificent town houses and medieval squares in Braunschweig<\/strong> still bear witness to the city’s important role as a Hanseatic city and as the residence of the Guelphs. Works by renowned baroque masters await visitors to the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum. The green oases along the river Oker offer relaxation. Neighbouring Wolfenb\u00fcttel<\/strong> is world-famous for its J\u00e4germeister liqueur. This can be enjoyed particularly well in the historic old town with its 1,000 half-timbered houses. The town of Lessing is home to authentic places where the most important German poet of the Enlightenment left his mark, such as the Residence Palace, the Herzog August Library and the Lessing House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Hameln,<\/strong> much revolves around the legendary Pied Piper. The incomparable old town attracts visitors with its imposing sandstone and half-timbered buildings. A tour on the Weser cycle path or a boat trip on the Weser round off a visit. Around 30,000 students lend a lively and international flair to the historic cityscape of G\u00f6ttingen<\/strong>, a university town rich in tradition. The opportunities for shopping and going out are correspondingly diverse. In the Forum Wissen, a 1400 square metre exhibition area deals with the question of how knowledge is created.\u00a0 The residential town of Celle<\/strong> impresses with Europe’s largest connected half-timbered ensemble and one of the most beautiful Guelph castles. Celle, situated on the southern edge of the L\u00fcneburg Heath, is ideal for excursions into the fascinating heath landscape. Hannover<\/strong>, the capital of Lower Saxony, impresses with its metropolitan flair. The Herrenh\u00e4user Gardens are a tourist jewel. In the old town, visitors stroll through historic alleys or relax on the banks of the Leine river. Event highlights such as the International Fireworks Competition or the Maschsee Festival lake are annual visitor magnets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A journey through time from the history to the future of mobility in the Autostadt in Wolfsburg <\/strong>promises plenty of variety. A special visitor magnet each year is the summer production with extraordinary open-air events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
