Wolfenb\u00fcttel is known as the home of J\u00c4GERMEISTER herbal liqueur, but did you know it\u2019s also home to the second-largest palace in Lower Saxony? Or that the writer Gotthold Ephraim Lessing spent the last years of his life in Wolfenb\u00fcttel? No? Wolfenb\u00fcttel was the residence of the Guelph dukes for over three centuries. Largely undamaged by wars waged through its long history, the historical centre with the world-renowned Duke August\u2019s Library, Lessing\u2019s house and the first Protestant-built church is much as it was in Guelph days.
